Caterpillar Pneumatic Tire Forklifts Nova Scotia

Caterpillar Pneumatic Tire Forklifts Nova Scotia

Utilize a Pneumatic Forklift
Pneumatic forklifts are common in shipping and warehouse operations. Also known as pump trucks or pallet trucks, they are used in order to transport products and materials around on wooden pallets using metal forks which are mounted on a wheeled counterweight. The counterweight includes a pump that can raise the forks off the ground. A pallet truck is designed to be operated by one person.

Pallet trucks must be operated with care in order to prevent loss of control while raising heavy loads. Equipment should be inspected prior to operating. Clear the wheels area of any obstacle. Check that the handle smoothly turns. The pallet must be carefully stacked to guarantee that nothing will fall off during transportation.

To be able to release air in the pump and lower the forks, squeeze the lever located on the inside of the metal loop on the end of the pallet truck's handle. The forks can then be pushed into the pallet slots. The forks must be centered to ensure even distribution of the pallet's weight across them. Lift the forks from the ground by pumping the pneumatic lift's handle until the pallet has cleared the ground completely. Do not raise the pallet too high or the forklift could unbalance.

Move the pallet by pulling on the handle and dragging it behind you. It is really dangerous to push the pallet ahead of you since the momentum could cause it to go out of control. Take turns slowly and don't try to stop suddenly. Gradually stop, squeeze the lever, and the forks will lower to the ground. Finally, remove the forks from the pallet by pulling them out. Return the pallet truck to its permanent location.
