Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck often goes by other names including: Walkie or Walkie-Rider. These pieces of equipment are basically a motorized version of a pallet jack. They come in both "Rider" versions as well as "Walkie" models.
Like what the name implies, the walkie type is designed for the operator to walk along with the unit while they transport cargo. The Rider model on the other hand, utilizes a small platform for which the operator stands on. The rider models are great for frequent moving of loads over extended distances in manufacturing operations and warehouses. They are really maneuverable and fast.
It is not recommended to pick up and transport tall or unstable loads as there are no safety cages on these models. A rider might be the best answer if you are looking for an inexpensive method for moving loads from point A to point B. If though, you must move heavy loads short distances, and prefer to utilize a more employee-friendly unit rather than a pallet jack, the walkie model can be the right choice.
Order Selector
The order selector or order picker is a piece equipment made particularly for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks connected to a platform in the Man-up design. This platform elevates both the operator and the load in order to facilitate manual unloading and loading from racking areas.
Typically, the order selector is a very narrow aisle vehicle that could work in smaller aisles. They are extremely useful pieces of machine during physical inventories as well as in cycle counting situations. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models which range in the 20 to 30 foot range are much more popular.
