How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when utilizing a scissor lift, since the ease of working and the lift basket's security gives peace of mind when trying to perform tasks that would have otherwise required working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machine make it the right option for completing jobs from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries which have been mounted directly onto the equipment. These batteries would have to be charged following a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any particular equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
The machinery has to be parked near an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place must also be in a well-ventilated place. Then, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button located near the charger or the control box, inside the basket of the lift. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Normally, older units will have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
Next, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in a place that is well ventilated and after that plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area while in use, extreme danger could potentially happen.
