Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to pile up supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage areas orderly. The reach truck comes in several types: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The most basic type is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide underneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are only one pallet in depth.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is similar to the stand-up, is frequently utilized. This version consists of telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet has to go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide beneath the pallet and grasp the sides as well. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units could be accessed in many directions. This version is ideal in situations where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Within nearly all warehouses, there are normally more than one kind of reach truck. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities use different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to operate and could increase production while maximizing available storage space.
