A type of machine in the material handling industry that can be utilized to lift and move loads from one place to another is known as a forklift. Every component of a forklift has a particular function. Various components could be used to transport the load vertically or horizontally.
Mast
The forklift mast refers to all the components that lift and lower the load. There are different kinds of masts used for raising loads to various heights: duplex, triplex, quad and simplex.
Power Supply
There are four different ways you can power a forklift: electric, gas, diesel and propane. The battery is located within the cab beneath the seat. The propane tank is situated on the back of the truck. The fuel tank on diesel and gas forklifts is underneath the back of the truck.
Cab
The forklift cab is situated in the center of the truck. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The gas pedal, steering wheel, tilting controls, brake and lifting controls are all located within the cab.
Frame
Carrying all the largest forklift parts is the truck frame. This includes the counterweights located at the back that prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame consists of the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the axles, wheels and driveshaft.
